Chocolate Dipped Christmas Spoons
I know we are deep into the holiday season when my annual Christmas Cookie Party comes around. This year was no different from the last, we ended up with hundreds of cookies and enjoyed the company of some wonderful women as well. I tried out two new cookie recipes and will be posting those in the coming week too.
Each year I try to come up with a new party favor and this year I decided to go with a food favor because it’s the theme I like most! Since I usually have 25-40 people attend this cookie feast I try to make something that won’t be especially labor or time intensive, but still a reflection of the holiday season. I usually search Pinterest for ideas and when I saw this one I knew it would go well with the sweet treats everyone was baking. Even though it took a couple of days to put together, the overall time for this project was relatively short, which helps when you’re preparing for any holiday party or gathering you may be planning.
Ingredients:
Teaspoons
Milk and/or Dark Chocolate chips
Christmas colored sprinkles
Parchment Paper
Cookie sheet
Plastic goodie bag
Red and white twine
Specialty stamp (optional of course)
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Place chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and heat for one minute. Pull out, stir the chips, and continue cooking until they are melted and the chocolate is dippable. Dunk the spoons into the chocolate, place on parchment lined pan, and sprinkle with Christmas colored candy. Place in the refrigerator to harden. This takes a couple of hours, but I left mine in the fridge overnight so I knew they were totally cooled.
Place spoons in plastic goodie bag, tie with twine, and add a message for that personal touch. The spoons can be dipped into coco, hot milk or even coffee.
Wine to pair?
Chocolate = red wine, at least I think it does. However, I drank wine while making these treats, which made the whole process that much better! But you do you on this one and drink whatever you like best while making these sweet favors. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a wine night!
