Rose “Summer” Spritz
Summer spritz?!?! Wait, it’s not summer anymore. Fall showed up about a month ago, what gives? Well I’ll tell you what. San Diego, and her breezy BFF Santa Ana, decided to give us a warm week, hotter than any summer day we had this year. I know most of us are not fans of October heat, but there are some things you just can’t change, Miss Santa Ana is one of them. I think it’s just better to go with the flow.
Fortunately, I have all the right ingredients to come up with a libation that will help you beat the heat. My suggestion is to mix up a cool, bright, and light beverage, put on your sunscreen, and pretend summer just started instead of ended. For those of you in other parts of the Country where fall actually fell, you can still make this drink, just turn the heat up high and
My go to summer wine is always Rosé. That perfectly pink wine that’s dry, yet fruit forward, is what I find myself pouring when the temperatures rise. When it gets really warm and I know one glass won’t cut it (okay let’s be honest, I can’t recall the last time I had one glass of any wine, but I digress) in comes the spritz! The combination of Rosé, ice, and some sparkling water is the perfect sipper to cool you down. So pour yourself a treat and pretend your on vacation, well from fall at least.
Ingredients:
One bottle of Rosé (I love Cotes Des Rose)
Sparkling water or club soda
Ice cubes (flowers not necessary, but they sure are pretty)
Fill wine glass with ice, pour (about) 4 ounces of Rosé and top off with sparkling water or club soda. Cheers and enjoy!
